Expert Level Barnes Myofascial Release Therapist

Owner of MyoFascial Release of West Florida

An open letter to clients, therapists and future practitioners…

I know how it feels to suffer with chronic pain.

And, I also know how it feels to experience a level of care that is so comprehensive, so compassionate, and so physically effective, that the experience of working with the pain actually becomes a vehicle for profound personal growth and achievement.

It has been an extraordinary life lesson to be guided to the realization that the solution for working with pain does not live outside of me. It is actually an internal, instinctual ability which we all possess, and sometimes we just need help remembering its there.

I experienced this process of remembering through Barnes method Myofascial Release treatment. I developed awareness and understanding about the embodiment of emotions and trauma, I achieved postural realignment from the hands-on techniques, and I gained knowledge of how fascia is at the very center of both of these areas of our comprehensive health.

Perhaps the most important part of this experience was the heartfelt care by Myofascial Release practitioners, who were less intent on wielding their intellect to be an “expert” on me, and more focused on leading me back to myself so that I could be empowered to create lasting change.

For that reason, it is my mission to provide you with the highest degree of personalized and skilled therapy you have ever experienced. Barnes method Myofascial Release is potent, highly effective work in which the therapist is a partner and facilitator. It is of utmost importance to me that everyone who walks through our doors experiences an environment of trust, non-judgment, and sincere compassion during treatment.

I know the courage it takes to try yet one more thing for the pain that hasn’t responded to anything else you’ve tried. I was there too. My promise to you is that we are not here to push packages or gadgets or protocols or time frames. We are here to listen to you deeply, and share what we have learned about the inherent power we all have to become that healer we have been waiting to find.

My experience…

When the results I achieved in just a few Myofascial Release sessions far exceeded any of the prior treatments I had tried, including surgery and prescription pain medication, I immediately started studying Myofascial Release as taught by internationally renowned expert John F. Barnes, PT. Since then, which was in 2003, I have completed hundreds of hours of coursework taught directly by John Barnes, including an internship at his treatment facility in PA. I am honored to be an instructor for his national seminars and a regional Study Group leader. I continue to pursue higher levels of skill, excellence, and therapeutic artistry by attending, repeating, and instructing courses regularly.

I graduated with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia in 1995. Before focusing exclusively on Myofascial Release, I practiced in multiple hospital settings in Atlanta, providing care to patients with neurological and orthopedic disorders. I served as a Clinical Instructor for OT students in the areas of physical disability and psychiatry, both in hospital settings and in psychiatric rehabilitation facilities throughout the state of Georgia.

In 2006, I moved back to my childhood home of Bradenton and opened Myofascial Release of West Florida. In 2019 we moved into a beautiful larger space which has allowed us to expand our offerings. I am thrilled to now have an absolutely incredible team and facility to share this potent work which helped me, and so many others, reclaim and improve our lives.

I invite you to get a feel for our practice by exploring our services, meeting my phenomenal handpicked team, reading our blogs and testimonials, and reaching out to us with any questions you may have.

Warmly,

Tara
